Wynnefield PAL Center Adoption.
PHILADELPHIA, PA – June 15, 2010 – US Airways representatives joined PAL children and staff at the Wynnefield PAL Center (North 54th Street & Wynnfield Ave.) to present an $18,500 check to support four PAL programs, including the adoption of the Wynnefield PAL Center. The ceremony was moderated by newly-appointed PAL Board Chairperson, Sylvia Nisenbaum, Esq. and included remarks from Deputy Commissioner Charlotte Council and special guest Robert Ciminelli, Vice President of US Airways Philadelphia Operations and PAL Board member.
The highlight of the event was an old PAL favorite that is being brought back into the centers with US Airways’ support. Over 60 children took part in PAL’s “Come Fly with US” Paper Airplane Contest. US Airways logo paper airplanes were constructed and flown down the runway. The three children with the longest flights won gift cards.
US Airways is quickly becoming an important advocate for PAL's great mission of “Cops Helping Kids” by giving valuable monetary and voluntary support through several different initiatives. US Airways’ belief in PAL's work will allow its adopted center to expand after-school programs, maintain existing general operations and provide safe haven for over 1,000 underserved youth. US Airways also pledged support for the 2010 Award Dinner, Golf Classic and Make a Celebrity PAL event.
