Police Athletic League of Philadelphia

From December to February we ran our two annual in-house flag football leagues (11 & under and 15 & under coed leagues). More than 200 children participated in each league and the children enjoyed their experiences. The younger kids championship was won by “The Dream Team” in a tough matchup against “The Rockets.” In the 15 & under league, “Split Decision” competed against “The Giants” to take the title. The children in the leagues received sportsmanship awards and winners and runners-up received first and second place trophies.

Tacony PAL’s in-house soccer league was also a hit. The 12 & under in-house league had more than 170 participants and twelve teams. Each child who participated, as well as the older children who helped mentor the younger children, received sportsmanship awards.  The success of the in-house league carried over into the General Mills Citywide Indoor Soccer Championships, in which the Tacony PAL team won the Citywide Soccer Title.   It was the first General Mills Citywide Soccer title won by Tacony PAL members.

Tacony PAL is currently running the annual Girls Dance Program on Thursday nights, and dozens of children from the center are participating in the GEICO Junior Golf Program which runs through the end of summer.

Tacony is currently holding signups for the summer Tennis Program and is getting the gears in motion for the Tacony PAL Summer Camp in August, which is supported by Lockheed Martin. It should be an exciting summer for kids in our center.
