GEICO Junior Golf a Hole in One!

On Friday, August 17, 2012, PAL’s GEICO Junior Golf Program wrapped up for the summer. Nearly one-hundred children were on hand for the final morning on the links and the afternoon closing ceremony. Youngsters from across the City participated in this annual event, which GEICO has been supporting for five years.

Throughout the summer, almost three hundred children took part in the three-part program. GEICO Junior Golf kicked off in the spring with children participating in the Greater Philadelphia First Tee program for six weeks. Upon the conclusion of the First Tee program, campers took part in an eight-week Kids on the Hill program. Finally, the program closed with a week of golf instruction and competition at the Juniata Golf Course in Philadelphia. Rizzo PAL Officer Ernie Rehr, who runs the program each year, commented on the summer of fun, stating, “The weather cooperated this year and all the kids were just outstanding in their development – whether they were new or returning golfers.”

As things wrapped up on the links at Juniata, more than one hundred children participated in the GEICO Junior Golf Closing Ceremony in the Clubhouse at Juniata. Tom Cardwell, a supervisor from GEICO, was on hand to spend time with the children and help them celebrate their participation and accomplishments in a broad array of categories.

PAL thanks GEICO for another great summer and once again helping PAL fulfill its mission of “Cops Helping Kids.”
