Ryan Howard and Krystle Campbell Present the First Annual Cruise for a Cause, Benefiting the Police Athletic League of Philadelphia

Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard and fiancée, Krystle Campbell hosted the inaugural Cruise for a Cause, a charitable event benefiting PAL, on Sunday, August 26th. Phillies players Jimmy Rollins, John Mayberry, Jr. and Laynce Nix were seen showing their support for their teammate and PAL aboard Freedom Elite, an elegant and upscale 92-ft. private charter yacht docked at Penn’s Landing.

The event opened with red carpet arrivals, a four piece jazz quartet and cocktail reception. During dinner, guests heard from event hosts Ryan Howard and Krystle Campbell, PAL Chair Sylvia Nisenbaum, event coordinator Derrick Brooks and PAL Alumna Alicia Smith, who shared her experiences growing up in one of Philadelphia’s thriving PAL centers. a dozen high-end items, including sports memorabilia, jewelry from Tiffany and Co., getaways to Riveria Maya, Mexico and more, which added to the fundraising success of the night. Guests enjoyed spectacular desserts created by reality series “Cake Boss”’ Carlo’s Bakery in Hoboken, NJ.

PAL thanks Cruise for a Cause sponsors—including lead sponsor, Apollo Jets—and guests for their extremely generous support of this new event for PAL, which raised more than $60,000 in its inaugural year. The success of this event can especially be attributed to new friends Ryan Howard and Krystle Campbell, who put their faith in the PAL organization and worked diligently to plan and execute a memorable and worthwhile evening for all.
