Cozen O’Connor and Archbishop Carroll High School collected new and gently used dresses for underprivileged girls throughout the year. During prom season, the Prom Dress Drive culminates in a complete “prom shopping experience” for hundreds of PAL girls. Volunteers from Cozen O’Connor, Independence Blue Cross and Archbishop Carroll High School assisted the girls throughout the evening. Transportation, gowns, accessories and makeup were all provided to the young ladies free of charge.
Nancy Rounbehler of Cozen O’Connor, Rizzo PAL alumna and founder of the Prom Dress Drive, says, “Three years ago while attending a meeting at Cozen PAL, a mother asked me if I could help her daughter get a prom dress. Of course I said yes, but had no idea where to start.
I asked my daughter who attends an all girls private school, if she could help me get “gently” used dresses. I also called the school and asked if we could start a dress drive as a service project for the girls, and they agreed. I then called the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and that’s how I got in touch with Archbishop Carroll High School. They had already collected dresses and were looking for a place to donate. The rest is history!”
Thanks to Nancy and all of PAL’s committed volunteers for making the Prom Dress Boutique such a special experience!
