PAL Youngsters go Back to School
PAL is starting off the school year with two back to school events at the Harrowgate and Tacony PAL centers.
Community Friends led by Adam Schall organized an education extravaganza at Harrowgate PAL on September 13th. More than 200 youngsters attended for an afternoon of fun. After eating bountiful, healthy snacks, participants played Simon Says and Bingo, danced and did craft projects. All PAL youngsters received new book bags filled with school supplies to prepare for the new school year. Volunteers were on hand to lead the activities, pass out book bags and stress the importance of education and doing well in school.
Tacony PAL hosted a celebration on September 18th to kick off this year’s Lane Bryant Homework Club. More than 100 youngsters ate pizza, received book bags packed with school supplies and were treated to a musical performance by up-and-coming artist, BriaMarie. She performed several of her hits, including a song about not succumbing to the pressures of the “cool crowd.” Many Lane Bryant store managers from the Philadelphia area attended the event to help hand out book bags. PAL youngsters enjoyed the afternoon and are ready for daily Lane Bryant Homework Club sessions!
PAL thanks Adam Schall and Community Friends and Lane Bryant for their continued support and helping PAL youngsters celebrate going back to school!
