This year’s General Mills Citywide Soccer Program, which kicked off in the late winter, came to a close last week at Harrowgate PAL.
Two championship games were played, but before the final games began, hundreds of young competitors from around the City of Philadelphia were treated to a brief ceremony in which they received medals and were congratulated for their participation and sportsmanship.
Children also heard from PAL’s Commanding Officer, Lt. Bryan Anthony, PAL’s Board Chair, Sylvia Nisenbaum and Leland Gilmour of General Mills. Following the brief ceremony, youngsters were treated to an enjoyable dinner with friends and teammates.
After weeks of practice and a hard-fought season, the General Mills Citywide Soccer Program concluded with two championship matches. The first of the two championship games was an exciting matchup for the 11-and-under Title. Southwest PAL and Ford PAL fiercely competed. Eventually, Southwest PAL came out victorious. The 13-and-Under matchup was played between Cobbs Creek PAL and Lenfest PAL. Both teams fought hard, and Cobbs Creek ended up winning the game.
PAL is proud of all participants for their choice to take part in a team-oriented fitness activity. Many thanks to General Mills for their philanthropic leadership and support of healthy communities!
