PAL and Penn Charter Partner for MLK Day of Service
William Penn Charter Lower School students and their families honored Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy by completing service projects for PAL on January 21, 2013.
Leading up to the project, students collected new sporting equipment, school supplies, books and educational games to be donated to a local PAL center. They collected an astounding 973 items including nearly 400 books. Kindergarten and first grade students spent the morning counting, sorting and packing the collected items.
Second and third grade students painted murals on canvases which will be used to brighten up PAL centers throughout the City. Fourth and fifth graders traveled to a local PAL center with their parents to complete painting projects and build a library. Volunteers gave the gym and computer lab a face lift with a fresh coat of “PAL blue” paint.
All participants reconvened at Penn Charter for lunch graciously provided by Bubba’s Texas BBQ.
PAL thanks Penn Charter for their hard work and continued commitment to service.
