Philadelphia Youngsters Compete for PAL Chess Title
PAL’s annual Lenfest Chess Program provided an opportunity for more than 150 inner-city children and teens to experience the game of chess and all that goes along with it- strategy, discipline and reason. Youngsters competed to be crowned the PAL Chess Champion in three age groups, 18 and under, 15 and under, and 12 and under. The program is presented through the generous sponsorship of the H. Chase and Ana Maria Lenfest Foundation.
After participating in the highly competitive regional competitions, winners advanced to the citywide chess finals, hosted by Temple University’s School of Media and Communications, on November 29, 2012.
Congratulations to the first place winners, Khalil from Steel PAL, Jamir from Cozen PAL and John from Rizzo PAL! All participants were commended for their hard work and dedication. Everyone received a medal to commemorate the close of this year’s chess season.
PAL thanks the H. Chase and Ana Maria Lenfest Foundation for generously sponsoring another rewarding program.
