On September 10th more than fifty Harrowgate PAL youngsters celebrated the start of a new school year. Led by Adam Schall, volunteers organized activities and collected funds to outfit each child with a new book bag filled with school supplies.

Children divided into teams to play kickball and dodgeball with the volunteers before receiving healthy snacks, which were provided by Wawa. “The kids’ faces lit up as they went through the bookbag. They couldn’t believe all of the great school items they received. Harrowgate PAL is very lucky to have such dedicated and selfless volunteers,” said Officer Rivera, Harrowgate PAL Center Director. The Friends of PAL is a group volunteers who donate their time Harrowgate PAL weekly during the school year. They assist the children with homework, one-on-one literacy tutoring and play fun games.

This back to school celebration also served as PAL’s first KYW KidCast. Several youngsters recorded a radio segment with the KYW Mobile Studio to share their experiences and PAL.

PAL thanks Adam Schall and volunteers for their commitment to the success and livelihood of Harrowgate PAL members.
