How did you first learn about PAL?
I was a member of the Olney PAL Center when I was a child – I grew up there.
What made you want to be a part of the PAL unit?
Throughout my time in PAL, I loved seeing the way the officers interacted with the children and the community.
History with the Police Athletic League?
Since I’ve been in the PAL unit, I have led a few centers. I was the center director at Police Memorial PAL from 2006-2012, and I currently run the Fairhill PAL Center.
Why do you think proactive community policing measures like PAL are so important?
PAL is important because it lets the community see that police officers are human, we have families, and we do care about the communities we serve. It also shows a different side of the police department.
What is one thing you want every child to know?
I want them to know that my number one goal is to help them become productive members of society and to help them reach their goals. I want them to know that anything is possible with a little hard work.
What kind of impact do you want to have on a child’s life?
I want the children I serve to know that I will go above and beyond to help any of them become successful in whatever they want to achieve. I care about them and it makes my heart glad to see them realize their dreams
Did you have a mentor who made an impact on you? Tell us about it.
My father was my mentor. He is a retired police officer. He taught me the true definition of what a man is. He raised my brothers and me with tough love. He showed me that an active father can make a difference in his kids’ lives.
What programs do you offer at your center? What programs are unique to your center?
At Fairhill PAL, we run all of the programs that PAL offers, but I also have a great dance program on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 4:30-6:30. The children love it.
