A Healthy Start to Spring: General Mills Foundation Indoor Soccer
Spring is in full-swing, and along with it came the General Mills Foundation Citywide Indoor Soccer League. The Foundation has been sponsoring both citywide and in-house soccer for two years, and this year’s Citywide Indoor Soccer League was a smashing success. Following a long winter, hundreds of children were looking forward to participating in soccer and began playing games in early March. Teams of youngsters geared up for two months of excitement, entertainment and exercise.
Aside from keeping children safe, off the streets and involved in constructive programming, General Mills Indoor Soccer provided children and teens with a healthy, competitive activity that introduced them to the world’s most popular sport. Fitness, teamwork and skill are all major factors in soccer, and the participants certainly learned a lot about staying active and cooperation through the program.
General Mills Citywide Indoor Soccer came to a close for the season on May 9 during a special Closing Ceremony followed by championship games at Harrowgate PAL. Each child received an award and healthy snack and enjoyed watching the championship teams compete for citywide glory.
PAL thanks General Mills for once again supporting PAL’s mission of “Cops Helping Kids” and allowing hundreds of children to take part in an exciting fitness-based activity.
