AlliedBarton Executives Teach PAL Teens Interview Skills
On October 2nd, executives from AlliedBarton Security Services met with more than 25 Harrowgate PAL teens to teach them skills necessary to interview successfully. Best Foot Forward (BFF), a program developed for this specific purpose, teaches young men and women how to present themselves in a professional manner. Participants also heard remarks from PAL Board Vice Chair and Education Committee Chair, Athole G. Jacobi, MD, encouraging them to remain focused so they can be successful in life.
AlliedBarton Division President for National Security Operations and PAL Board Member, Ron Rabena lead the interactive presentation and shared his personal story of hard work and determination. He explained and demonstrated traits of presentable interview appearance and the importance of first impressions. Each participant used a remote to submit answers to polls and feedback was transmitted immediately. For instance, they determined that 81% of PAL teens in attendance had never been on an interview. Speakers used this information to tailor the presentation to be as relevant as possible.
Participants received professional portfolios filled with essential “Do’s and Don’ts” for interviews. Everyone signed the Best Foot Forward Pledge to commit to appropriate interview behavior, including dressing appropriately, arriving on time, speaking professionally and following up in a timely manner.
PAL thanks Ron Rabena and AlliedBarton for bringing such a unique and necessary program to teens in Philadelphia.
