PAL Celebrates Technological and Creative Talent
More than 120 PAL Computer Club members celebrated their accomplishments at a graduation ceremony on June 12th at Harrowgate PAL. Participants from across the city spent two nights per week since October learning from an interactive curriculum which inspired their creativity though technology. Computer Club graduates are now proficient in Microsoft applications, image editing software and understand the ins and outs of computer hardware.
Participants submitted projects to the Citywide PowerPoint competition responding to the prompt “My Year at PAL.” The youngsters were guided by Computer Club instructors to demonstrate their knowledge of the program through their presentations. Congratulations to Mekhi of Southwest PAL and Mario from Harrowgate PAL for winning first place in the 18-and-Under and 12-and-Under divisions respectively. A second contest was created this year to design a new logo for Computer Club and practice graphic design. Arnaldo of Harrowgate PAL and Rahidyah of Cozen PAL took first place in each age division. First place winners in both contests were awarded laptops for their great work. Second and third place winners received gift cards for prizes. All participants received dinner, shirts and gift cards for water ice.
PAL appreciates continued giving through EITC which supports Computer Club and thanks all instructors for another great year.
