Tacony PAL Ends Summer with a Bang
More than sixty youngsters enjoyed a final fun-filled week of summer at the Tacony PAL Arts and Activities Camp. This annual camp is run and organized by Tacony PAL Center Director, Officer Bill Schneider with help from generous community members and volunteers.
Youngsters focused on education, athletics and art through various trips and talks with guest speakers during the camp. In addition to an active week of sports and playground games, kids met professionals who spoke to the children about career opportunities and their experiences in the business field. Campers also attended several trips to the Penny Pack Environmental Center to study nature, local Fire Station Engine 52 to try on gear and learn about fire safety, and Liberty Bell Bicycle shop to practice changing a bike tire and were reminded about the importance of always riding with a helmet. The children met world renowned boxing champions, Nate Miller, Buster Drayton, Kevin Howard and PAL’s own Officer Tyrone Crawley. They spoke about the pressures of being professional athletes and encouraged campers to work for their dreams. The week culminated with a pizza party and scavenger hunt for candy.
PAL thanks Lockheed Martin for their continued support of Tacony PAL and Wawa for providing lunch for the campers.
