PAL Kicks Off Summer at the Zoo
Two-hundred-fifty PAL members enjoyed a day at the Philadelphia Zoo on June 25th compliments of PECO and PAL Board member, Michael Innocenzo. This trip has been a favored learning experience for PAL officers and members for twelve years.
Participants received special gifts from PECO including playing cards, a Barrel of Monkeys game and brightly colored t-shirts. They enjoyed a healthy lunch with volunteers from PECO in the Peacock Pavilion, where many attendees had their faces painted. A lucky bunch even won animal-themed raffle prizes. Zookeepers astounded the youngsters with a special exhibit; they learned about iguanas, peregrine falcons and even fed a parakeet.
PAL youngsters loved the newest exhibit at the Philadelphia Zoo, KidZooU. They learned about energy conservation and its effects on polar bears, brushed goats and sheep and climbed through a specially-designed jungle gym like mountain goats. The new kids-friendly zone provided a fun way to learn about important topics.
Everyone enjoyed all that the Philadelphia Zoo has to offer, including wandering peacocks, Big Cat Falls, polar bears and much more. PAL thanks PECO and Michael Innocenzo for another great PECO PAL Day at the Zoo!
