PAL Celebrates Scholarship Recipients with Luncheon
In a ceremony held at the Union League of Philadelphia, this year’s Scholarship Luncheon honored 200 deserving recipients pursuing higher education. Hosted by Jennaphr Frederick from FOX29, the scholars and sponsors enjoyed remarks from noteworthy guest speakers, including Temple University Head Football Coach, Matt Rhule, Overbrook PAL Alumna Erin Wilson and Deputy Police Commissioner Richard Ross, Jr. All guests shared inspiring messages and congratulated each scholar for making positive choices in their lives.
The Anne Krancer Memorial Scholarship was given to Katelyn Mansfield from Wissinoming PAL to pursue her Masters and Ph. D in Biology at Boston University. Katelyn’s achievements through her college pursuits, including her commitment to cancer research, as well as her personal endeavors reflect Anne’s kind spirit, giving nature and love of education. One additional special scholarship was awarded to Asha Wescott from Southwest PAL. This scholarship, sponsored by Comcast SportsNet in memory of long-time PAL Board Member Sam Schroeder, also includes an internship with Comcast SportsNet during Asha’s junior year.
PAL thanks this year’s luncheon guests and all scholarship sponsors, including Patricia Kind, the Ron Krancer Family, Athole G. Jacobi, M.D. and Dr. and Mrs. Andrew and Anne Abel. Congratulations and good luck to all scholars!
